Dutch gin distillery J. VAN DER VALK & Co. registered 3 Trade Marks that are well known to gin bottle collectors :

>> DE HOP / THE HOOPOO : a distinctive bird with a crest of feathers, and native to Europe, Africa and Asia. Van der Valk bottles with this trade mark are probably the hardest to find.

>> STORK FEEDING 3 YOUNG : a very attractive trade mark and the most available to collectors. This trade mark is very similar to the J.H. HENKES "STORK", the difference being the 3 young birds in the nest.

>> PIET HEYN : an Admiral with the Dutch West India Company famous for capturing a Spanish fleet laden with silver in 1628 and returning to his homeland, and saving his country from financial troubles. There is a statue of Admiral Piet Heyn - pictured on the right - located at Delfshaven and nearby to his former residence and site of the VAN DER VALK distillery.
